We have an exclusive guide area use in Koyokuk Wildlife Refuge!

MOOSE HUNTS:

We hunt our monster Alaska Yukon Moose in western Alaska. The river drainage we hunt has the best moose hunting in the world. The season takes place during the breeding season for these giants. There is nothing more exciting then calling these massive bull moose to within bow range. These rut crazed moose have come through our camps during this time of year, just looking for a fight. The average moose taken is between 58 and 64 inches, with 70 inch bulls taken almost every year. You will be hard pressed to beat that anywhere. For those of your who want to hunt Alaska with a bow, this is definitely the hunt for you. Most of these bulls are really starting to get aggressive at this time of year. It is not unusual to call several huge bulls in during the day. There is also grizzly bear, black bear and wolves to hunt for on this adventure.

Hunting Strategy:

We will be hunting river bottoms and/or climbing to strategic knolls to glass and find these giant moose. Once we have a bull located we will close the gap and judge these moose for trophy quality. Calling is a very effective method to use while hunting moose this time of year. I have witnessed moose walking over 2 miles to respond to a call. We will call bulls out of the hills and valleys, out in the open or to the rivers edge. Some shots with archers have been 12 yards. All access is down by a river boat with a 40 hp jet. This area is hard to reach and the river is too shallow for transportation except via jet boat. This is a beautiful time of year to visit Alaska. Temperatures can be as high as 76 degrees during the day and as low as 10 above at night. The colder the better! Cold nights get these moose "rut crazed".

SHEEP HUNTS :

Hunting the majestic Dall Sheep of Alaska will be one of the most physically challenging hunts you will ever experience. But the rewards are unparalleled. Once you visit the mountain valleys and witness first hand the breath taking panoramic views in pursuit of these outstanding rams, you'll know why some hunters are addicted to sheep hunting. These rams will be found from the tops of the tallest pinnacle, to the valley floor. The hunter must be in good physical condition for this hunt. To me there is no better trophy than a hard earned sheep. Truly a beautiful Alaska trophy. Grizzly bear and wolf can also be hunted at this time.

Hunting Strategy:

We will fly to camp in a "Super Cub". This is the only way to reach this remote area. Landing at 4500 feet elevation gives us a strategic advantage, and puts us near several mountain passes. Allowing us to hike and glass several mountain valleys and drainage's. Sheep from this area average 35 to 39 inches, with some 40 inch sheep taken. This is a back pack hunt. There will be a base camp with cots and a bomb shelter type tent. We will sleep in spike camps and will eat light weight dehydrated foods (Mountain House). Good, light weight gear is very important on this hunt.

GRIZZLY BEAR/CARIBOU HUNTS:

We are hunting the Mulchatna Caribou herd. Numbering several hundred thousand. It is not uncommon to see several thousand while you are here. The Grizzly Bears are feeding on the Silver Salmon that are still present. This is a great time of year to hunt Alaska. With this many Caribou around it is truly a fun hunt.

Hunting Strategy:

Caribou are highly nomadic animals. Hunting them is often fairly easy when they are present and always on the move. I have seen thousands walk right in front of camp for several days, allowing you to pick an exceptional trophy. The Grizzly Bears will be hunted on the rivers and the hillsides. The bears are still feeding on salmon this time of year and it is common to see a different bear every day. Most of our time bear hunting will be spent glassing, letting our eyes do the walking and keeping the human scent to a minimum. This is mandatory for our success. Caribou average 350 to 390 BC, with 400 plus taken every year. Grizzly Bear in the area average 8' to 9 1/2', with some bigger bears seen. Wolf are also very popular on this hunt.
